When is the swim club open and what are the hours?

Generally, Brookside opens on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and is then open weekends only until school ends. After that, the club is open 7 days a week until Labor Day. Presently (2018), the hours for July are 12:30-9 PM Monday thru Friday and 12:00-9 PM Saturday & Sunday. The hours for August and September are 12:30-8 PM Monday thru Friday and 11 AM-9 PM Saturday & Sunday. Also, please be advised that the pool may periodically close early due to home swim meets and other swim club activities (parties, etc.). Check out or Club Hours page for detailed information.

Are there any special events or activities throughout the season?

Brookside provides many special events and activities throughout the summer season. We have numerous activities on July 4th , culminating with the annual Milltown fireworks display. There are our Family Fun Day, evening parties and pre-teen parties scheduled each season. We will periodically have casual “Adult Late Nights”, where members and guests can utilize the club until midnight. The “John Emery Classic” golf tournament is scheduled on the Friday of Labor Day Weekend. Our swim & dive teams compete in exciting meets in June & July. Arts & Crafts, contests and challenges are offered frequently during the season. We also have many activities over the final weekend of Labor Day, ending with our “close-out sale” from the club office, making available some great end-of-season bargains.

May I bring my own beverages to the pool?

Absolutely. Hard & soft beverages may be brought to the pool, however, for the safety of all of our members, glass containers are strictly prohibited. In addition, no beverages are allowed at any time in the pool, nor at the side of the pool.

Where are club members allowed to park?

Please use our fenced-in lot just outside the entrance to the club. For instances when the club lot may be full, members may park in the municipal lot next to Milltown Borough Hall (lot adjacent to Washington Avenue). Please do not park, at any time, in the police lot directly in front of the club.

What is available to borrow from the pool club’s office?

Members may borrow board games, plying cards, pool balls, basketballs, ping pong equipment knock-hockey equipment, swim fins, kick boards, inner tubes and water noodles. You are responsible for returning any borrowed items when you are finished using them.

May we have a party at the pool to celebrate a birthday or special occasion?

Of course! Brookside is a wonderful setting for a party to celebrate a birthday or special occasion. Party times are available any weekday throughout the summer. For weekends, parties may be scheduled in June & August only (no parties in July on weekends). Parties must be booked in the office using the Brookside Party Reservation form. A party reservation fee of $25 should accompany your form, plus normal guest pass rates will apply on the day of the party. In addition, all parties must comply with the Brookside Party Policy document, which is available in the office.

When can members swim laps at the pool?

There are two laps lanes near the diving well side of the pool that are marked off with lane lines and are always available for lap swimming. These lanes are reserved for lap swimming only.

What types of memberships are available at Brookside?

Brookside offers family memberships, individual memberships (for 10 years & older) senior citizen memberships and swim team only memberships. Visit our membership page to apply for a membership.

Can I pay my invoice online?

Yes, you can pay your invoice online using a credit card or paypal account. Go to the homepage, mouse over membership and then click Member Login. Once completed you can pay using Paypal. Note that payment online will include a convenience fee. This will be listed on the final payment page.

Please note that Brookside Swim Club does not receive or store any credit card information. All credit card processing will be done via Paypal.

Do you offer any discounts on your family memberships?

There are two ways to earn a discount on your family membership. First, you can perform a “work day” at Brookside on a weekend in April or May, which helps to prepare the club to open for the season. For participating in a “work day”, you will receive a $75 discount* on this year’s badge fee. Information on work days will be posted on the homepage. These usually occur before the club opens up in May. The second way to earn a discount is to sponsor another family for membership. You will receive a $50 discount for each new family that you sponsor, which will be applied to the following year’s badge fee. May I bring a guest to the pool?

Absolutely! You may purchase guest passes at the office for $60.00 Each pass is good for 10 guest “punches”. Without a guest pass, the charge will be $8 per guest at the window. All guests must be checked in at the office and will receive a colored wrist band to wear while at the club. The same guest may visit the club no more than 5 times throughout the season. Children ages 3 years and younger do not require a punch on your guest pass.

On the 4th of July and Labor Day, Guests must be pre-registered and pre-paid in advance. Guest passes cannot be used for these days. On these days: ages 3 and under are free, ages 4-12 are $10 and ages 13 and over are $15.

May I help out by participating in a work weekend as a single member?

Single members can definitely volunteer to help ready our club for opening and you will earn a free guest pass good for 10 guest entries for your efforts.

What methods of payment are available to me for payment of my annual season membership dues?

In February of each year, Brookside will send out your invoice for the upcoming season, including all fees and discounts. Season fees are due to be submitted by April 1st, in order to avoid a late fee, and can be paid by mailing a check to our PO Box, or you can pay via credit card using our online payment feature. For paying via credit card, you will incur an additional, small credit card convenience fee. After April 1st, memberships will not be guaranteed and will be filled on a 1st come, 1st served basis, until the club is at capacity.

Do non-swimming grandparents count as a “punch” on a guest pass?

No, non-swimming Grandparents do not require a guest punch and are always welcome!

Rules and Regulations

Are there any special policies for holidays?

Due to the high volume of use of the club on holidays (Memorial Day, July 4th & Labor Day), each family will be allowed 4 guests, provided that they are signed up and paid for in advance. Adults will be $15, and children 4 – 12 will be $10. A table will be set up in the parking lot to check in guests.. On special event days (ex. Family Fun Day), a $10 guest rate will be charged and families are limited to 4 guests. It is also asked that on holidays and special event days, you limit your time on the pavilion to ensure it can be utilized by all members. Member cooperation is essential to the enjoyment of all. Please help us make the summer holidays a success!

May we enter the swim club through the rear volley ball area gate?

No, all members and guests must enter the swim club through the front gate and check in at the welcome window.

May I drop my child off at the club?

Children, ages 12 and older, may be dropped off at the club without parental supervision and must be aware of, and follow, all pool rules. Children ages 11 and younger must be accompanied at the pool by a parent.

Are there any restrictions on where, in the pool, a child can swim?

Any child under the age of 12 must pass a swim test, with a life guard, in order to swim outside of the shallow-end “lane” of the pool. Children who are under 12 and do not pass the test may swim in the shallow-end of the pool, with a flotation device, and under close adult supervision.

Are flotation devices allowed for small children?

“Swimmies” and other approved flotation devices are allowed and swimmers utilizing them must remain in the shallow-end “lane” of the pool (marked by the “braided rope & buoy” laneline). Children with swimmies must be directly supervised at all times by a parent.

Are rafts, floats & tubes permitted in the pool?

Yes, rafts, floats & tubes are permitted, as long as these devices remain between the lap lanes and the shallow-end lane line. They are not permitted in the diving well, lap lanes or shallow end of the pool.

Are we allowed to dive off of the pool deck?

Yes, but only in the areas of the pool that are marked as 6 feet, or deeper, not including the diving well (diving from the deck is nor permitted in the diving well).

What guidelines need to be followed when using the diving boards?

You can read and follow the information that is posted on the diving board. In addition, you must wait for the diver in front of you to reach the ladder BEFORE starting your dive. Each diver should swim to the nearest ladder immediately after entering the pool.
